NOTE: The
therapeutic protocol below assumes you have covered your
basic nutritional needs as outlined here on this page. If not, you should seek to do that asap, as it will enhance your outcomes.
When any kind of pain (inflammation) or illness (infection/virus/bacteria and even toxic insect bite related) threatens, even allergies or some type of fungal issues (this list is not exhaustive...
See www.DoctorYourself.com for a complete list of health issues that C can dramatically help you with, which will be located on the LEFT SIDE panel of the website)...
I start taking 1,000mg every 60 minutes to see how my body does with the symptoms I’m feeling and then I adjust how often I take it accordingly...
I increase the frequency (how often I take it) based on how I'm feeling (in terms of the severity of symptoms I'm experiencing) and if my body seems to be able to handle more, without gas or diarrhea (which is the intestinal discomfort you will begin to feel when you’re body is reaching its limit on how much Vitamin C it needs, for that time interval, and how much it can handle for what it is fighting - that’s the only real side effect of concern).
You'll know usually within 10-20 minutes of taking a dose of C to know if you need to increase the frequency of how often you should take a dose...
Although, on my first attempt at using Vitamin C in a therapeutic way, I'll give myself 30-45 minutes of when I first start, depending on how bad I am feeling, and then work my way down to taking it more frequently if and when I need it.
HERE IS WHEN YOU WILL KNOW YOU NEED MORE C:
You'll know if your body needs more C, because the symptoms you’re feeling are not becoming less and less...
In other words, you're not feeling some relief, but staying the same or symptoms are increasing, then...
Start by dropping the amount of time between doses by 10-15 minutes.
In other words, the next dose may be in 45 minutes from my last dose. Then maybe if I am not feeling better or my symptoms are increasing, I'll take the next dose 30 minutes after the last dose, etc.
So each time you DO NOT get some relief within 15-30 minutes after taking a dose, then keep cutting down the time between doses by 10 to 15 minutes until you’re down to taking it every 30 minutes.
Once you’re down to taking it every 30 minutes and still don’t get a relief of symptoms, then, believe it or not, that’s your body’s way of letting you know that it requires even more Vitamin C in order to naturally overcome the underlying problem...
HERE IS WHERE YOUR APPROACH NEEDS TO BE MODIFIED:
That usually means you have something really set in and stubborn working against you, OR you waited too long to start the protocol and you let the infection grow enough to set in and take root longer than you should have (which is a good lesson for next time, to avoid waiting long before starting your protocol).
At that point (when you’re taking it at 30 minute intervals), if you need to take more frequent doses, you can begin cutting down the amount of time you take each dose, but, this time...
I would start by cutting down in 5 minute intervals..
For example: when I’m down to taking it every 30 minutes and I know it’s time to take it even more frequently, I’d take it down from 30 minutes to 25 minutes, and if I need more, then I’ll go down to taking a dose every 20 minutes and then to every 15 minutes, and so on and so forth, depending on how I feel each time I take a dose...
If I'm down to this interval, it means that now I'm waiting only 10-15 minutes after each dose at this interval.
I’m always looking for some relief or easing of symptoms before recognizing that my body is still in need of even more in order to overcome whatever I’m dealing with.
Basically...
I’ll usually take a couple of rounds at lower intervals (anything below 25 minutes for each dose), and If after a couple of rounds I’m still not beginning to feel better with a particular interval and I still don’t have intestinal gas or irritation, then I’ll start dropping it down to the shorter intervals.
Once I get down to taking it every 10 minutes for a couple of times, and I’m still not getting a relief in symptoms, then I know my body is really overwhelmed with whatever inflammation or infection it is dealing with and that means it requires even more.
I have had this experience, but it is very rare and only occurs when I start the protocol a bit later than I should have, after first signs that something may be coming on.
So don’t worry about how much C your body is signaling that it requires. There’s nothing to be scared of about needing to take even more...

YOU NEED ENOUGH C TO BE SYMPTOM FREE!
So if after a couple doses every 10 minutes, you realize you need more, in other words, if after those two doses, you don’t start to get some relief from your symptoms AND you also don’t have any intestinal irritation, then start cutting down the time intervals by every 1 to 2 minutes.
So from every 10 minutes, to every 9 or 8 minutes and do each drop in time intervals, so that you have taken the dose at that new time interval at least a couple of times before dropping again to a shorter time interval.
From 8 minutes to 7, and then 6 minutes if needed...(do that dose and interval for a couple of times)
If you can still handle more, start increasing the frequency by subtracting only 1 minute between each dose (each time do it for a couple of times at that dose and time interval) until you get to the point where you can begin to feel you're reaching bowel tolerance.
Remember that bowel tolerance is reached the moment you begin to feel some kind of intestinal irritation of any kind, which will lead to diarrhea if you don't ease up as outlined in this protocol.
When that occurs...
Then go back to the last interval where you didn't feel any intestinal irritation...
And stay on that dose and frequency until your body signals you need to adjust up again as you begin to heal and get better, meaning, you start to add time in between each dose)...
CAUTIONARY NOTE:
IT'S BEST NOT TO STOP THIS PROTOCOL ABRUPTLY WHEN YOU FEEL BETTER...
INSTEAD, SLOWLY AND STEADILY TAPER OFF, REDUCING YOUR INTAKE AS OUTLINED ABOVE ACCORDINGLY.
THEN, AS YOU WORK BACK TOWARDS NO LONGER NEEDING A THERAPEUTIC DOSE, YOU SHOULD BE SURE TO TAKE THE RECOMMENDED DAILY DOSE THEREAFTER FOR YOUR BODYWEIGHT, AS OUTLINED ON THIS PAGE HERE FOR BASIC DAILY IMMUNITY NEEDS AND PREVENTION.
You have to test and see based on how severe your symptoms are with whatever your body is fighting, but at least you know the worst side effect is intestinal irritation usually in the form of gas and then diarrhea.
Remember to stay hydrated.
It really depends on how serious the infection or pain you're feeling that determines how much your body can take and how often. It's whatever the body needs.
Also, in some cases, you may need to take other helpful supplements that support whatever your body may be fighting.
Again, Remember this helpful phrase:
Take enough C to be symptom free!
To be more specific: Take as much C (as often as the body needs), to be symptom free! (While awake of course)
SIDE NOTE: IF YOU DID NOT START WHEN YOU FIRST BEGAN TO NOTICE SOMETHING WAS COMING ON, AND INSTEAD, YOU ENDED UP WAITING TOO LONG TO START THIS PROTOCOL, AND YOU ARE NOW AT A POINT WHERE YOU WANT TO START THIS PROTOCOL AFTER YOU ARE ALREADY FEELING REALLY MISERABLE AND/OR ARE IN A LOT OF PAIN, YOU MAY NEED TO START WITH THE MAXIMUM OF 2,000mg PER DOSE, INSTEAD OF THE 1,000mg PER DOSE PROTOCOL, IN ORDER TO SPEED UP GETTING RELIEF SOONER...
BUT BE AWARE THAT SOMETIMES THIS CAN BRING ON DIARRHEA SOONER, IN WHICH CASE, JUST GO BACK DOWN TO THE 1,000mg DOSE AND INCREASE THE TIME BETWEEN DOSES TO GET BACK TO WHERE YOU NO LONGER HAVE DIARRHEA.
IT'S IMPORTANT TO REPLENISH YOUR BODY WITH A DRINK THAT CONTAINS ELECTROLYTES WHEN YOU HAVE DIARRHEA.
SUCH AS COCONUT WATER, OR MIX A PINCH OF PINK HIMALAYAN SALT AND SOME SUGAR WITH WATER AND DRINK IT IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING ELSE (You don't need to take more than 2,000mg at a time to be effective, though some people have taken as much 3,000mg to 5,000mg at a time, depending on their bodyweight, their particular issue and needs).
